SMOKIN’ HORNSare a seven piece, Newcastle swing band plus more who will blow your socks off.

With their lively and sassy attitude they deliver a colourful platter of music, constantly varying in style from big band swing to funk, jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Songs taken from the 1930’s through to modern day have been given the Horns makeover to give them a powerful brassy sound.

The trumpet, sax and trombone combo give added richness to modern rock songs by the likes of The Beatles, Wham and even Amy Winehouse then another layer of musical encounters adds variety with ballads such as Crying and Unchained Melody giving the audience a chance to really appreciate the amazing vocal range of lead singer Chris Ferguson. Bec takes a break from the sax and gives her all when shows off her beautiful voice with a few soulful numbers. One reviewer has said “ I never liked the Rehab song but the Smokin’ Horns do a job on it that far surpasses the original”.

Forming in 2008, the Smokin' Horns have grown in number and musical diversity to become the vibrant band they are today, consisting mainly of former marching koalas members Mitch (Trumpet), Scott (Piano), Josh (Trombone), Bec (Sax) and Andy (Drums). Slinging the bass is Johnny who has been affiliated with the music industry for many years, accompanying the vibrant, vivacious vocalist Chris.
